Like J.I. Packer who I’ve written about before, John Stott is one of those men who was influential in my theology long before I became an Anglican. To be honest, I didn’t even know or realized he was an Anglican priest back then. What I did know is that his commentary on Romans was superb. He has a deep understanding and commitment to a theology of grace and identity in Christ and articulates it so clearly. I also had to read The Cross of Christ in seminary and still remember it as being of my favorite books to read in that time.
I saw this video on the website for a new Anglican church plant in Reno: Sierra Anglican Church. The video is about The Rev. Dr. John Stott and the release of the 50th Anniversary edition of his book Basic Christianity. I encourage you to watch it and give thanks to God for his ministry. If you’ve never read Stott, then Basic Christianity is the place to start.
