The 12 Days of Christmas

December 30th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Here we are in the middle of the Christmas Season. On the secular calendar, Christmas is over and we are heading to New Year’s Day, but on the Christian Calendar, today is the 6th Day of Christmas. I wrote a number of posts during Advent encouraging to go through the Advent Season by delaying the celebration of Christmas as much as possible. Well, Christmas is now here and it is time to celebrate. I want to remind us again to keep enjoying the miracle of the Incarnation, that “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Truly God is with us.

Christianity Today has a great article on the Christmas Season and Epiphany. Check it out: The Real 12 Days of Christmas.

Thank you so much for sharing that article on the real 12 days! That included some church history I certainly did not know. More importantly, it held great reminders of the truths we should be celebrating and stepping out in during this time of year, such as this quote: “As the true end-point of the Christmas season, however, Epiphany sends us into the world to live out the Incarnation, to witness to the light of Christ in the darkness.” Now that’s far and away better than the old “Christmas is about giving” that Hollywood falls back on.
