It’s not Christmas yet! We are still journeying through the Advent Season, which means we are still waiting, anticipating and contemplating upon the coming Messiah. I saw this video and found it to be quite thought provoking. It is put out by a group called the Advent Conspiracy. And while I am not a big fan of everyone related to this group, what they have to say is challenging and worthy of our consideration. This is especially true in the area of spending less on ourselves and giving more away.
One of the things we are doing at St. George’s is giving away 20% of our income to mission work. I am not saying this to toot our own horn, but to let you know that giving is part of our DNA. Being part of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, and just having screened the movie “As We Forgive,” we have already donated to The Living Bricks Campaign. So as you watch this, think about how you might spend less, and to whom you might give more.

Shane – amen brother! And while you’re at it, and talking to the folks in Phoenix, don’t overlook the additional opportunities you have with the 321 tax credit for organizations that help the working poor. You can give up to $400 (filing jointly) to a charity that really needs it this year, and get it right back on your tax return. More reason to give more, when more people need it more. Think about what ministries are happening around you, and help these folks out this year with this tax credit.
Peace.

What if Americans even “tithed” their Christmas gift-giving to a cause like this? That would more than solve the global fresh drinking water problem! Thanks, Shane, for something to think about at this Advent Season!
