Many of you know that St. George’s is a part of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, and that I am a missionary priest from Rwanda to the United States (I even have to stop for a minute to reflect on all of that!). As you also probably know, in 1994, Rwanda experienced a horrible event of genocide when 1 million people were slaughtered in 100 days. Both the perpetrators and victims of the genocide were Rwandans, although from two different tribes. Recently Rwanda has been releasing the perpetrators from prison by the tens of thousands. They are going back to the live in the same villages where they committed their crimes and are having to face their victims’ families and friends. A great work of reconciliation is underway.
Laura Waters Hinson is part of an Anglican Mission Church in Washington DC. She has made a documentary called “As We Forgive.” It has won numerous awards including the Gold Winner for Student Academy Awards in June of 2008. She will be here on December 2nd to screen this film and engage in a discussion about reconciliation afterwards.
St. George’s Anglican Community, along with Desert Mission Anglican Church and Christ Church Anglican is sponsoring this event. Please join us.
**SEATING IS LIMITED** Please send me an email if you are wanting to attend.

This is a must see film; to forgive so many for so much is beyond human comprehension. For the Amish who previously forgave the individual who killed was, for me, more than amazing; it was a God thing. Which is why Jesus taught us to pray “forgive us as we forgive those”. And now, with the genocide in Rwanda while America stood by from afar, I cannot not see this film.
