The Man in Black: Redemption

October 3rd, 2008 · 2 Comments

Johnny Cash is my all time favorite singer. This dates back to childhood when I remember hearing him on the radio as my dad drove the car. I think the first time I heard “A Boy Named Sue” I was hooked. Last Sunday night Jesse Snyder, our music leader, sang the song “Redemption.” He did an awesome job with it. This song was on Johnny’s “American Recordings” CD that came out in 1994. The cover features Johnny with two dogs, one named Sin and the other Redemption. If you know anything about his life, there’s good reason for that. Of course, we don’t have to have lived the exact same life as Johnny to relate to those themes. And when I contemplate on my sin, it reminds me of how wonderful His redemption is…the redemption that was won through the Blood of Christ.

My wife’s cousins are related to old JC. And by JC, I mean Johnny Cash.
